Elopement activities: what you can actually do on your elopement wedding
20/01/26
One of the best things about eloping is that your day doesn’t have to follow a script. Once couples realize they’re free from traditional timelines, the next question usually is: ‘’okay, so what do we actually do all day?’’
The answer is simple: anything that feels right for you. Elopement activities aren’t about filling time, they’re about creating moments you’ll remember.
One exercise I always ask my couples to do on our discovery call, is to close their eyes and to imagine what would their perfect day look like. What would they have for breakfast, what would they be waking up to, what would they do during the day, which activity, what environment would they be in etc.
This helps them shape their day and figure out what they like to do.
Below are different types of activities, grouped by vibe, to help you imagine what your elopement day could look like.

Relaxing experiences
Private picnic
A curated picnic in a beautiful spot, usually timed around golden hour.
It gives you a real pause in the day to breathe, eat, talk and enjoy being together.
Private chef experience
A chef prepares a meal just for you, often in a private or remote location.
This meal makes you feel intimate and special without the formality of a traditional reception.
Wine tasting/Vineyard visit
A relaxed way to celebrate while discovering a local place. Very beautiful spot also for pictures.

Boat ride (sailboat, wooden boat, catamaran)
It’s a peaceful way to experience a landscape from the water, perfect if you want movement without effort.
Cable car/funicular ride
An easy way to reach epic views without hiking.
Rooftop experience
This is a great option if you want privacy with a view.
Local food tour
This experience is built around discovery and enjoyment. You get to try the local food of the country you’re getting married in, such a special moment.

Balanced experiences
Easy-access hikes
Short walks with high visual reward. Ideal for couples who want nature without getting exhausted at the end.
Waterfall hikes on short trails
A small adventure with a big visual payoff. Usually accessible and well-paced.
Kayaking/canoeing
A clam way to explore lakes or coastlines together.
Horseback riding
Just choose a horse that’s not gonna kick you out of his back and fly you over his head 🙂
Vespa/scooter ride
Fun and full of movement. Great for coastal towns or countryside roads.
Stand up paddle
This activity could really surprise you if you happen to do it at sunset or sunrise depending on where you are.

Adventure experiences
Helicopter ride
Choose this way of transportation to have a fast access to breathtaking locations, not accessible otherwise.
Paragliding
Of course with an instructor. This is a true adrenaline experience paired with incredible views. Not for everyone, but unforgettable.
Glacier tour
If you elope in Iceland for example, a must to is to explore the glaciers with a professional tour guide. You will be able to experience something very rare and impressive trust me.
Hot air balloon ride
This could scare you at first but it’s very slow in reality and it often becomes the emotional highlight of the day.
4×4 off-road experience
If you like to have some adrenaline, taking a 4×4 allows you to access places you couldn’t reach otherwise.
At the end of the day, the activities you choose aren’t about filling a schedule. They’re about shaping the best day of your life.
There’s no ‘’right’’ way to build your day, and that’s exactly what makes elopements so powerful.

And once you start imagining what your elopement could look like, the next big question usually comes naturally: who will guide me through all of this and document it in the best way?
If you’re wondering where to find and how to choose the right person to tell your story, you’ll find more clarity here: where to find and how to choose your elopement photographer.
Another resource that could make you imagine what really happens during an elopement: what happens during an elopement, a real timeline.
And if you’d rather not figure all of this out alone, I’m here to help you design a day that fits your vision. Don’t hesitate to contact me, I’d love to be part of your journey.
Let me help you plan your unique elopement!

Photography is my way of pushing back against the fleeting nature of life. It’s how I preserve memories, freeze time and hold onto what matters.
