If your biggest dream is eloping in the Dolomites but you don’t see yourself hiking for hours in a wedding outfit, you’re not alone 🙂

And guess what? You absolutely don’t have to!!

As a photographer, I’ve always been drawn to breathtaking places but I love it when they are still accessible so that we don’t have to be all sweaty when we arrive. The Dolomites are exactly that! You just need to know where to look.

Lago di Braies

it’s really one of THE most iconic lakes in the Dolomites and if you don’t go there while visiting the Dolomites, you’ll definitely regret it.

It’s a very easy access lake since you don’t need to hike to get there, you can access by car or bus. There’s a 1 hour very easy hike all around the lake that is very accessible and beautiful to do but of course, you can definitely just rent a small boat and enjoy the lake without hiking.

My advice is that if you’re going during peak season (june-august), be there before sunrise so that you can enjoy the views just for yourself before having all the tourists arrive by around 8am.

Alpe Di Siusi

My favorite Dolomite spot every!!! I dream about it everyday.

You just have to see it by yourself to trust me. The mountains that you see in front of you are like a painting, and all the green open landscapes are sooo dreamy.

Some useful info: you can access it by your own car only in the morning and after sunset. Between those hours, you can reach it by cable car.

There, you just wander through the meadows at your own pace. There’s also benches and the paths are very easy.

Lago di Carezza

It’s a smaller lake but it’s extremely magical. It’s surrounded by forest and it’s known for its turquoise water. It’s perfect if you want something simple but stunning.

You can access it by car and there you have a short 15 min walk loop around the lake. It’s so photogenic and my advice is to go for sunrise to enjoy the golden morning light.

Seceda

You’re maybe thinking ”Oh, it’s an elevated high place with a view, how could we go there without hiking?” Well, don’t worry! You can access it by cable car and magically, you’ll be at the top 🙂

You’ll have to take 2 cable cars from Ortisei to the top. When you’re there, you just have a 10 minute uphill walk to the famous viewpoint. You also have the option to walk a little more by going of the 1 hour loop track that isn’t very difficult.

Passo Giau

It’s one of my favorite spots for elopements, especially when I’m tired of hiking.

You can enjoy breathtaking mountain views and you don’t have to hike 1 second. How crazy is that?

You can drive directly there, park your car and enjoy the panoramic views.
My tip is: GO FOR SUNSET!! you’ll thank me later.

Cadini di Misurina viewpoint

Okay… this one requires a vvvvery short walk but it’s 100% worth it, trust me!

Just look at the picture below, I’m sure you’re already convinced just by looking at it 🙂

To reach this viewpoint, you’ll have to walk for around 40 minutes. Level: moderate. It’s probably the ”hardest” one of the list!

Tips for eloping in the Dolomites

If you want fewer people, better light and more intimacy, I would suggest you elope either in May-June or in September-October. Also, always choose sunrise or sunset instead of mid-day to avoid crowds.

My advice is also to choose 1 or 2 locations for your elopement so that you can fully enjoy every moment there and not feel rushed or stressed. Usually, photographers take care of your timeline (like I do) and they would plan it around light so that you can have stunning pictures.

Finally, keep your outfits comfortable, especially your shoes. Even if you choose locations that don’t need hiking, you’ll be much more at ease with comfortable shoes to wander in the Dolomites.
